Each June, we pause to recognize National Reunification Month—a time to honor the hard work and heart it takes to bring families back together after separation through the child welfare system. It’s a moment to lift up parents who have overcome tremendous challenges, the children who have shown incredible resilience, and the professionals and caregivers who walk alongside them every step of the way.
Reunification is A Collective Effort
Successful reunification doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes:
-
Parents who do the hard work of healing and growth.
-
Children who show strength and adaptability through uncertain times.
-
Foster parents who care for children while supporting their return home.
-
Caseworkers, therapists, attorneys, and judges who partner with families toward lasting outcomes.
-
Relatives and kin who step in when needed and help preserve identity and connection.
It truly takes a village.
Thank you to our network partners including D.A. St. Johns, Bethany Christian Services, Catholic Charities West Michigan, Wellspring Lutheran Services, and Samaritas.
