Katie has many years of experience in child welfare and mental health, bringing a wealth of knowledge in both clinical and macro social work. After earning a Bachelor’s in International Political Science from Calvin College, Katie pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Grand Valley State University and holds licensure in both macro and clinical social work.

Katie has an extensive background in foster care in Kent County, having worked at Bethany Christian Services and Samaritas. A key contributor to the establishment of the Treatment Foster Care program at Bethany, Katie has held various roles including Behavioral Specialist, Foster Care Case Manager, Supervisor, and Program Manager. Having worked in both Grand Rapids, MI and Chicago, Il Katie is deeply committed to addressing systemic inequality and advancing trauma-informed care for children and families. Passionate about creating meaningful change, she brings a unique blend of hands-on expertise and a strong advocacy for child welfare reform to work at WMPC. Katie also brings a wealth of knowledge, and a strong passion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Katie is an avid reader and is well-known and respected throughout the Kent County network.
